After dinner tonight, Swami and I went for cappuccino at one of the local cafes. We had a very spiritual conversation: we talked about music we loved while we were growing up. To my surprise, we both spent our adolescence listening to soul music by artists like James Brown, Otis Redding, Aretha Franklin, and Ray Charles. We talked about how their music moved our souls. It wasn’t long until we pulled out our phones to play some of our favorites. We laughed, traded memories, and re-lived part of our teenage years. I will never forget tonight as long as I live! Sometimes I can be so overly serious. Tonight reminded me that the experience of God always begins with joy and that lightheartedness is a virtue to be nurtured.Beloved
Divine Mother,
Beloved Guru,
When I am lighthearted
And full of joy,
So are you.
