How do we know we are in the presence of a truly loving person? The answer is simple: they see us for the person we actually are, good and bad traits alike, in a spirit of unconditional acceptance. For this reason, we must never reduce love to an emotion or a gust of romantic passion. Love takes many, many forms. All of these different loves have their roots in one loving source: God. All forms of love begin with the willingness to consciously recognize others as real people with real hopes, needs, joy, and pain. We must make others as real to us as we are to ourselves. This is what Adam meant when he said of Eve, “She is bone of my bone and flesh of my flesh.” Today, choose one person in your life and choose to really see him. Give him your full attention; make his needs as real as your needs. Watch him blossom and feel yourself blossoming with him. When we love others purely and generously, God literally breathes in and through us.
Divine Mother,
I want to see others
As you see them.
