Psychologists tell us that most of our thinking is nothing more than tired, recycled thoughts instead of fresh, helpful, or empowering thoughts. In the parlance of modern culture, a person voicing such habitual thoughts is referred to as a “talking head.” In order to tap into the stream of inspired intelligence, the very mind of God, we must let go of all that we think we know; we must let go of our constructs and agendas. Then, we must practice prayerful and meditative silence. The ultimate goal of meditation is not relaxation, stress reduction, or extraordinary experiences, but interior stillness. In this stillness, fresh intuitions will inevitably bubble up into our awareness as vibrational waves of wisdom, guidance, and inspiration. God meant us to live in this way in order to receive all the intelligence that we need in order to navigate our challenges, be they spiritual or secular in nature.

Beloved God and Guru,
You patiently wait for me
In the silence
So that I can learn
All I need to know.
