If you have ever listened to Martin Luther King’s “I Have A Dream” speech or read his “Letter from a Birmingham Jail,” you have undoubtedly felt the power and transformative truth behind his words. Clearly, an incredible spirit or energy manifested in and through him. He was an intuitive channel in the hands of a passionate God. The good news is that we all have the potential to be a living channel for God’s deepest love and highest truth. For our potential to be fulfilled, however, we must develop a degree of intuitive empathy. We must be willing to feel what God feels, to suffer what God suffers, and to have God’s longing become our longing. We must be willing to sympathize with the very heart of God. Then and only then, the love of God becomes the force that fuels our words and actions. Authentic intuition necessarily takes us not only into God’s unfathomable bliss but also into God’s deepest suffering. God suffers because we suffer.
My Divine God,
My heart can hold suffering
Without breaking
Because my heart
Is also your heart.
