We are sometimes so occupied with finding God in the heavens that we miss the truth that God is hiding in plain sight. Here is an example: God is present whenever there is real contact between people. What constitutes real contact? Real contact, as I am defining it, is not about sharing our ideologies or spewing our emotions. Contact unfolds when two people engage with transparency, honesty, genuineness, sincerity, and vulnerability. When we box others and/or ourselves into conceptual categories, such as liberal or conservative, there can be no contact. Recently, an individual asked me if I was a Republican, a Democrat, or an Independent. I answered, “I am a human being.” Then he suggested that I must be a Libertarian. Again, I answered, “I am a human being.” Our conversation quickly came to a halt because I was unwilling to play his game. We know there is contact with another person because we experience a certain depth, a freshness, an aliveness, a flow, a level of understanding, and, at times, joy. Contact with another person is contact with their soul, and when there is contact with another person’s soul there is also contact with God. Authentic contact places us on holy ground.
Divine Mother,
May I always
Offer another person
An opportunity for
Real soul contact.
