Living the spiritual life in an honest manner is walking a razor’s edge of sorts. On one side is pure humility which leads us to admit our complete powerlessness and dependency on God. The other edge is our God-given power to author our lives according to our most soulful aspirations. This is not a contradiction, but a paradox. Let me put it this way: powerlessness corrupts, and absolute powerlessness corrupts absolutely. We are not called to passively participate in our evolution or in the evolution of the world. Rather, God has so dignified our existence as to make us active partners in God’s highest creative endeavors. After you have grounded yourself in meditative silence, ask yourself, “With God’s help, what do I choose to create in my life today?”
