The resurrection impulse is literally the force of Divine Love operating within the sphere of human evolution. This love is the most powerful force in all of creation. Given the many horrific situations dotting the landscape of planet earth, this claim about love’s power might be hard to believe. However, it is not that love does not work; it is just that it is seldom tried. We do not need more love, but an intensification of love. Such an intensification would have the effect of elevating the collective consciousness of the human race.
How do we nurture the intensification of love within our own lives and the world at large? Through prayer, meditation, and surrender to God and Guru, we dive into the heart of reality; we dive into love. This is the truth: love always entails a sincere and conscious choice. To the degree that we live mechanically or unconsciously, love disappears. We must make the choice to give ourselves over to love every day, often many times in a single day. The choice to love can unfold in the experience of pure joy as well as in the midst of deep suffering. To be honest, love that we choose from within the fire of suffering often possesses a greater measure of intensity and purity; it can move mountains. I am not saying you should look for suffering, but when it inevitably comes your way, see it as an invitation to dive deeper into the mystery of God’s goodness, into the mystery of God’s love.
