An Evening of Kirtan: Music for Yoga and Meditation
December 10, 2022 at 7:30pm in the temple
Cost: Donations gratefully accepted
Yogananda tells us, “Music is a divine art, to be used not only for pleasure but as a path to God-realization. A song born out of the depths of true devotion to God and continuously chanted, audibly or mentally, until response is consciously received from Him in the form of boundless joy, is a spiritualized song.” You are warmly invited to participate in a kirtan, a time of sacred chanting to benefit The Assisi Institute.
Leading us in our kirtan will be kriyaban and Eastman School of Music professor John Covach along with Alana Cahoon, Chris Meeker, and special guest Tommy Gravino. They will inspire us with a performance of selections by John Lennon, George Harrison, Krishna Das, Nina Rao, and others. Audience participation is not required but is absolutely encouraged! A time of fellowship will follow.
