Introduction to the Hong Sau Meditation Technique:
A 4-Week Meditation Course with John Covach
February 1, 8, 15, and 22
7 – 8:15pm in the temple
John and his musical colleagues led us in a wonderful kirtan in December. We welcome him back in a teaching role to share some of his extensive study and practice of Kriya Yoga. This four-week course will present the Hong Sau meditation practice as developed by Paramahansa Yogananda and further structured by Yogananda’s student, Swami Kriyananda (founder of the Ananda organization). Over the course of these four weeks, students will get instruction on correct posture (sitting on the floor or in a chair), breathing techniques (pranayama), mantra meditation, visualization, and affirmations, as well as learn about the philosophical and historical context of these practices. The emphasis will be on helping each student develop a pragmatic meditation routine that works best for them and that will serve as the foundation for daily practice.
The cost of the course is by donation, gratefully accepted on the course evenings. All proceeds go to the support of The Assisi Institute. Please contact John through the Facebook event page (link below) for more information and to register. Registration is not required but is preferred, as it helps us plan for space, etc.
