We all want to see and experience a transformed world, but we often fail to appreciate the process necessary to bring about that transformation. The archetypal story of Noah and the Ark underscores this process in a most vivid manner. That process is this: no new birth occurs without a corresponding death. Death and transformation exist always in an eternal embrace. God is using the world’s troubles to move us out of our comfort zones and into a new space which is free, loving, and sacred. For now, we are in an in-between space, and we are all experiencing a degree of confusion and outright powerlessness. The good news is that we are at the threshold of a transformed world full of new possibilities. I can’t tell you exactly when the birthing pains will come to an end, but I can say that every prayer, mediation, act of surrender to God’s will, and expression of loving service brings us closer to a new world. Gloria in Excelsis Deo! (Glory to God in the highest!)
Divine Mother,
Remind me
That death and transformation
Eternally embrace,
And that you hold
Me safely through both of them.
