This week, Kriyabans from the Assisi Institute will share aspects of the spiritual life as Isha Das turns to other work on our behalf. Today’s reflection comes from Jackie Eustis.
“With all thy getting, get understanding.”
Proverbs 3:5
“Understanding is the most precious possession of each soul.”
Yogananda
This is an age of misunderstanding where half-truths prevail. How easily swayed we can be leaning on our own understanding instead of making the effort to comprehend God’s truth! Otherwise, we are left to our own interpretations of the world. The fruits of the spirit — truth, beauty, goodness, and balance — flow much more easily if we have God’s understanding. In this way, we can be a vessel of peace in the world. Our guru Yogananda has specifically and thoroughly documented how to interpret the Bible’s four Gospels as well as the Bhagavad Gita. When I let the wisdom of the scriptures fill me, I realize that in order to have compassion for others I need to understand how to have compassion in a healthy, God-inspired way. In order to avoid judging others, I need to understand how God wants me to behave and participate in life as His child, not as judge and jury. Life without understanding is spiritual and material chaos. I desire peace; therefore, I need to strive for God’s understanding.
Divine God,
Master Jesus,
Guruji Yogananda,
Thank you for
The gift of
Divine Understanding.
