Even though the beauty that is seen, felt, and heard in the astral realms is infinitely beyond anything we experience on planet earth, we do experience a portal into that beauty in this life. This means that when we experience real beauty, our minds and hearts are in a high and elevated state. As a divine force, beauty divinizes us. For this reason we must cultivate beauty, orient ourselves to it, and permeate our thoughts and words with it. Sri Yukteswar tells us that beauty begins with a sense of order, purity, and cleanliness. Today, establish a relationship with beauty by making your bed, cleaning your room, organizing your office, and so forth. Instead of losing yourself in the ugly news of the day, orient yourself to the wondrous beauty of nature and the beauty inherent in great literature, art, and music. These actions are well worth the effort, because in this way we create heaven on earth.
