Deciphering the “Good News” with an Exploration of the Tarot

Mystical Christianity and the Christ Impulse

You are invited to participate in a weekend-long, silent meditation retreat. Two thousand years after the birth of Jesus, we have only begun to unpack the profound significance of his message, his person, and his blessing, and this special weekend promises to be deeply transformative.

Guiding us in our exploration of Jesus’ life and teachings will be the Catholic mystic Valentin Tomberg, and the great Hindu Swami, Paramahansa Yogananda. Tomberg is best known for his book entitled, “Meditations on the Tarot.” He uses the symbols of the Tarot as a means of breaking open Jesus’ proclamation of the “Good News” in a way that is engaging, challenging and energizing. Yogananda’s “Second Coming” is a masterful interpretation of the Gospels, with many profound insights and practical applications for day-to-day living. With these two spiritual giants to guide us, we will be brought to new depths, new heights and new possibilities.

Endorsements
“Meditations on the Tarot is simply astonishing. I have never read such a comprehensive account of the ‘perennial philosophy.’ There is hardly a line without some profound significance. To me, it is the last word in wisdom.”
–Father Bede Griffith

“Without a doubt the most extraordinary book I have ever read.”
–Father Basil Pennington

“(Meditation on the Tarot is) the greatest contribution to date towards the rediscovery and renewal of the Christian contemplative tradition.”
–Abbot Thomas Keating

“With the publication of The Second of Christ, an underground river burst through the bedrock of the ages. The argument for mystical Christianity no longer needs to be assembled from isolated fragments… Now we have a 1,700-page commentary on the Gospel story that finds, in the words of Jesus, a fully developed vision of the path of meditation and the science of God-realization… Yogananda is speaking with the voice of the spiritual visionary, the voice of Patanjali, Shankara, and the Old Testament Prophets. ”
