When Jesus spoke of hearing the voice of God, he was not talking about a physical or literal voice that we hear audibly. God’s voice is our own insatiable longing for greater and greater levels of peace, joy, and love. Isn’t it true that if we were all granted our personal versions of paradise that we would eventually become bored, wanting something bigger or better? This is not a human fault, but rather a virtue – if we understand and apply it correctly. We all have a spark of the Divine percolating within us; we have been created to explore and experience for all of eternity the depthless wonders of God’s truth, beauty, and goodness. But some of us respond to our increasing longing for love by inviting the wrong guests into our souls. Others of us ignore this interior voice because we fear it comes with a burden of spiritual demands. Sri Yukteswar tells us, “If the whole world were given to you, you would grow tired of it. No power or miracles can compare with the joy that is God. That perennial happiness is what everyone is seeking. God is ever new joy unto eternity. If you have that joy, it will never grow stale.” That joy has never left me.”

Divine Mother,
Beloved Guruji,
May I join you in silence,
Uniting my desire for peace
With your longing
To give peace to me
And to the whole world.
