Regardless of what is happening around us, the answer to life’s challenges is still the same: love! Love humanizes and divinizes us. Every act of love echoes into creation forever and forever. Every time we engage in an act of loving service more light is given to planet earth, and only the light of love has the power to dispel the darkness. Therefore, in the midst of the chaos surrounding us, we must stick to the script: we must stay focused on God and guru and commit ourselves to love every day of our lives. There is no other way out of the collective mess in which we find ourselves. While we have an obligation to know what is going on in the world, we must avoid the temptation to get lost in the world’s drama. When we do engage with current events, we must do so from the perch of divine love. Never doubt that your love makes a difference; never doubt you are part of God’s plan to renew the face of the earth. I will close this reflection with a quote from author J. R. R. Tolkien: “Some believe that it is only great power that can hold evil in check, but that is not what I have found. I found it is in everyday deeds of ordinary folk that keep the darkness at bay…small acts of kindness and love.”
