Our cultural perceptions have many blind spots because we have denied the reality of transcendental light. For this reason, we are steeped in conflict, division, and darkness. Yet, we are not without hope: when the night is darkest, the stars shine even brighter. Every spiritual tradition equates light with spirituality, with God. The term “enlightenment” literally means to be in the light. This non-material light blesses us in many ways. It helps us to see reality with clarity, insight, and wisdom. Diwali and the Christian celebration of Advent are an invitation to look above to heaven’s luminous light. We know that we are in the light because we feel more alive, we see with clarity, and we are strengthened to do what is noble and life-giving. God’s light always enhances, supports, and evolves life!

This date, November 4, 2021, marks the date of the beloved Hindu festival of Diwali. Join Isha Das tonight in person or on Facebook at the Assisi Institute’s Thursday evening Kriya Yoga service to celebrate this auspicious, light-filled occasion.
