Given the state of the world and the many demands we all face, it is easy for our insides to feel like a jumbled mess of disordered thoughts and feelings. We all have moments where we experience internal disharmony, but they should not be the norm. One of the best gifts we can give ourselves is the practice of sitting in prayerful silence and continuing to sit as long as it takes for a sense of peace to return. It is not complicated: sit and breathe into your heart center or your third eye while repeating the mantra “OM.” It helps to gaze on a photo of one of the gurus or a great saint. At first, sitting in silence when your insides are a mess can be uncomfortable, but if you stick with it, surrendering everything to God, sooner or later a sense of deep peace will descend upon you. I promise! Yogananda tells us, “You have the privilege and the freedom to create your own paradise right where you are; you have all the means to do it. “
Beloved Guruji,
You have taught me
