We all see ourselves, the world, and God through our own prejudiced lenses which distort reality. Only when we see in and through the reality of love do we see accurately and truly. I say this because love, the really real, is the only reality. Look at the divisiveness in our country; we don’t see people as people, as God sees them. No, we see people through ideological lenses; we label, categorize, and pigeonhole them. To the extent that we do this, we fail to see their humanity. A breakthrough of sorts occurred to me when I realized that despite our many differences as human beings, we all suffer: rich and poor, believers and unbelievers, liberals and conservatives, and so forth. Suffering unites all of us. To truly know ourselves, others, and God we must love ourselves, others, and God. Only love liberates us to see what is; only love makes both God and people real.
Divine Mother,
Beloved Guru,
Always, guide me to see
With the eyes of love.
