Recovering the Self
Psychology, Spirituality & the Path to Transformation
Underneath our changing moods, psychological fluctuations and ever-evolving lives is a point of pure, stabilized consciousness. This point of pure consciousness is described in varying ways: as “Atman,” “Self,” “Soul” and “The Divine Image.” These differing names point the indestructible essence of every person. True emotional and psychological health flow innately from the conscious rediscovery of one’s true Self – the source of wholeness, wisdom and happiness.
You are invited to participate in a one day workshop for psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, therapists, pastoral counselors, ministers or anyone working in the field of mental health. The workshop will explore the process of personal transformation in relationship to the rediscovery of the Self. The day will include periods of meditation, exploration of clinical strategies and group discussion. The experience promises to be informative, practical and inspirational.
Participants will explore and develop:
• Meditation techniques for counseling sessions
• Practices that nurture calmness, peace and mindfulness
• The place of silence in counseling and in life
• How to discern when one is operating from the reactive self as opposed to the authentic Self
• How psychological defenses inhibit realization of the Self
• Making peace with discomfort, and the necessity of truth in the process of transformation
