The cacophony of voices flooding the hearts and minds of people over the entire world makes our time unprecedented in human history. Who do we believe? What do we believe? Is there actual truth to believe in? Jesus left us an incredible claim that has to be either true or false; there is no middle ground, no gray area, no softening of his words. Speaking of himself, he boldly stated, “The one who comes from above, from heaven, is above all. He testifies to what he has seen and heard… For he who God has sent speaks God’s words; for the Father gives the Spirit without measure.” John 3:31-34

Jesus is making three incredible claims. First, he tells us that he literally came from heaven, possessing the highest transcendental understanding. Secondly, he speaks the very words of God. Thirdly, the absolute fullness of God’s Spirit, God’s love, is the wind at his back. Given these incredible claims, either Jesus was a mad man or his words are true. Yogananda certainly believed them to be true, as did Francis, Teresa of Avila, and countless spiritual masters. I invite you to make a spiritual and scientific experiment. Take the words of Jesus, and live your life as though they are absolutely true. Every day, read a few lines from one of the Gospels, and to the best of your ability, implement them in your life. Talk to Jesus as if he was actually resurrected from the dead, available, and always near to you. Ask for his guidance, wisdom, and blessing. Inwardly chant his name as you move through your day. At the end of each day, surrender all of your concerns into his loving hands. Do this for 60 days and take note of what is different about your attitude, mind, heart, and life. The only thing you really have to lose is your ego, fear, and suffering.

Jesus, Guruji,
You are the way,
The truth, and the life.
