We are living in a world that is perpetually upset and in conflict. Though there might be many intermediate solutions to our suffering, the ultimate and fundamental solution to our discontent is simple: we must ground ourselves in a transcendental consciousness, that is, in God-Consciousness. In the above quote, Francis gives us the map into God-Consciousness. I will explore his words from a yogic perspective.
Francis tells us to rise up to prayer. He is telling us to elevate our focus and thus our vibrations to a higher level. Literally, we move our intentions to our higher chakras, not in a mechanical way, but with devotion, warmth, and love. Then, he calls us to prayer. Such prayer literally energizes our chakras in a powerful way. Having established conscious contact with God, Francis bids us to remain in the presence of the Most High Father. Our sense of communion is not with a vague impersonal energy, but with a personal God who is both Father and Mother, lovingly closer to us than we are to ourselves. Finally, Francis tells us to stay in this state of prayerful communion as long as it takes to restore “the joy of our salvation.” Salvation is not primarily a happy afterlife, but oneness with a God that can only be described as love. This oneness (samadhi) is joyful, blissful, and ultimately ineffable.
Divine Mother,
I will remain with you
As long as it takes
To restore the joy
Of my salvation.
