Christmas celebrates and deepens an eternal truth: God is absolutely wedded to everything human, especially to the heart and soul of every man, woman, and child. The Christmas event has flooded human consciousness with light, with grace upon grace, and with the dynamic power of God’s creative word. What does this mean for you and me? The inner Christ, that Divine spark within us, is absolutely accessible to each of us. Divine plentitude is not reserved for a future heaven, but available to us here and now. The spiritual life is not about perfecting the personality, which just keeps us focused on ourselves. Rather, it is a headlong leap into the fire of Divine Love. When we dare to make this leap we are caught in the arms of God’s ambassadors, such as Jesus and Babaji, Mary and Anandamoyi Ma, and Francis and Yogananda. Lovingly contemplate Yogananda’s inspired words:
“Remember that Christ can be born again every Christmas in your meditation-awakened consciousness. Behold the omnipresent, ever-living Christ born anew in your devoted attention… Love Christ as this joy of meditation, and in this way, celebrate every day the spiritual Christmas: his second coming within yourself.”
