Growing up in the inner city and having to be tough to survive, I learned to deny any semblance of fear. But denying fear does not make it go away. Denial simply pushes fear underground where it begins to do even more damage. What I have learned since I embraced the spiritual path is that the only antidote to fear is love. To know God is to love God, because God is perfect love. God’s love is the momentum or force that opens our hearts, heals our wounds, and unites us as people. The enemy of love is not hate, but fear. Fear blocks us from experiencing love because it constricts the heart. If we wait for circumstances to be ideal in order to let go of our fears, we will remain mired in fear forever. Freedom from fear is the fruit of placing our attention entirely on God, no matter the circumstances. God has created us to live fearlessly and lovingly!

God and Guru,
This day,
Help me to let go of all fear.

As Isha Das turns to other work on our behalf this week, we bring you this week’s reflections from his book Living Grace: Daily Meditations For Meditation And Contemplation.
