When I was a child, we were more or less told to “stuff” our feelings. These days, we are encouraged to express, indulge, and act on our every emotional whim. Both approaches are wrong! We have feelings, but we are always more than our feelings. Because we are the image of God, our souls at the most essential level are depthless reservoirs of divine peace. If we are wise, we will learn to live from our souls so that we can deal with our emotions from a place of God-inspiration. Sometimes we will take our feelings seriously; at other times, we will merely witness them, always guided by the intuitive forces of truth, beauty, and goodness. The spiritually mature person directly influences his or her emotional life for the good by consistently attending to God’s loving presence within and by nurturing thoughts of peace, hope, joy, and fresh possibilities. Yogananda teaches us, “In God alone one finds ever new joy.”
Divine Mother,
Your love is always
The greatest part of me.
