“Everything the Lord has created is to try us, to bring out the buried soul- immortality within us. That is the adventure of life, the one purpose of life. And everyone’s adventure is different, unique. You should be prepared to deal with all problems of health, mind, and soul by commonsense methods and faith in God, knowing that in life or death your soul remains unconquered.”
Yogananda

Jesus’ consent to Mary’s request to perform a miracle, even though it went against his own desires, was not an act of subservience, passivity, or weakness. Mary was his mother: she bore him, nursed him, sacrificed for him, and believed in him and his mission. Jesus knew she loved him with her whole being. For Jesus, Mary was  the very face of God’s love, the face of God’s Spirit. Jesus dared to trust her entirely. Therefore, he was able to let go of his agenda and surrender to her direction. What does this mean for us? At some point in our lives, no matter the traumas we have endured, we have all experienced moments of profound love. Take those moments and multiply them by infinity, and you have only scratched the surface of God‘s love for you. If we are going to turn water into wine, to participate in the transformation of human consciousness, we must dare to trust the wisdom and love of the Divine Mother over and against our own preferences, just as Jesus did. We must dare to listen and to obey.

Divine Mother,
Help me to trust completely
In your boundless love for me
So that more and more,
I may listen and obey.
