Monday: Because of Yogananda, I can understand that the kingdom of God is to be found within me and not out in the world — the most profound and life-changing of Yogananda’s teaching. Good news, indeed!
Tuesday: By rejecting my surrender to a spiritual life—because I had such a limited understanding of it—I was rejecting a deep part of myself. The part of me that is in union and in love with God is my soul! When I listen and allow my soul to lead the way, then my self-discipline becomes a holy offering in which I sacrifice a lower motivation to achieve a higher one.
Wednesday: Only with my heart can I truly feel my connection to the people of Ukraine. My mind has no connections to specific people or things in Ukraine, but my heart is completely different; my heart knows that my soul is united to the millions of souls there. By virtue of that soul connection to them, I feel God’s tug and I want to pray for them.
Thursday: The season of Lent reminds me that it is a time to ‘reboot’ and restore balance to my life.
Friday: We come before God in contemplation and in meditation seeking union with him in his love. As we wait silently before God we find that he is transforming us, restoring his image in us. We see ourselves becoming a community that feeds the hungry, gives drink to the thirsty, clothes the naked, caring for and visiting those in need, and inviting the stranger, the alien, the immigrant into our land seeing to it that their needs are met.
