Monday: Each time we pray, meditate, and seek to live a life of loving service, we cease to be an isolated island. We become part of an infinite landmass comprised of nothing other than truth, beauty and goodness. We become unconquerable.
Tuesday: The best and most admirable people I know have had struggles in their lives which required them to fight against tremendous odds and resist alluring temptations. Their noble fight helped to divinize their lives.
Wednesday: God created delight, joy, and ecstatic bliss as a gift. God created within all of us the neurological and spiritual receptors to receive and celebrate these precious gifts.
Thursday: God’s goodness is nearer to us than we are to ourselves, and this goodness is not a static or inert presence. Rather, it is a dynamic force that always seeks to break into our individual and collective lives with untold blessings. However, it is up to us to create the opening that allows this breakthrough to occur.
Friday: As I write this reflection, it is July 4, and I just watched the tragic news concerning yet another mass shooting in a Chicago suburb. Yes, common sense gun laws must clearly be part of the solution, but if we stop there we are being dangerously naïve. Gun violence is nested within a larger reality of violence.
