Some holy or liberated souls in heaven have exhausted their earthly karma and have no need or desire to return. They might still be working through some subtle astral karma, but nothing so heavy that it would pull them back down to planet earth. Typically, they sit at the feet of their Gurus and provide meaningful service to souls who are suffering in the lower astral realms. This is certainly true of Moses, Mother Teresa, Francis and Clare, and Daya Mata too. Then, the Guru requested that they voluntarily accept a mission on planet earth on his or her behalf. These liberated and beautiful souls never hesitated in fulfilling their Guru’s request. They reincarnated and never entirely lost their memories of heaven. They may have experienced a period of sacred discontent, wherein they were unconsciously seeking to fulfill their mission, but sooner or later the events of their lives awakened them to their God-given destiny, and they lived their lives in sublime service of God, Guru, and their fellow humans. Valentin Tomberg describes these souls in this way: “The true mission is not what the human being proposes to do on the earth according to his tastes, his interests, and even his ideals, but rather what God wants him to do. A true mission on the earth serves the cause of the ennoblement and spiritualisation of that which is, i.e. of what lives as tradition. It brings an impulse affecting the rejuvenation and intensification of tradition (of a spiritual lineage that has grown cold).”
