Our existence is not the result of a cosmic roll of the dice. Rather, we exist because God has loved us individually into existence, and that same love sustains us moment by moment. God is a perpetual fountainhead of loving generosity. And we, who are fashioned in God’s very image, are happiest and most alive when we are being generative. Isn’t it true that our hearts flourish when we dare to love, to give, and to create? The problem is that most of us have been hurt by people and circumstances, so we close our hearts in an effort to protect ourselves. Then we seek happiness by grasping after people, power, and possessions. As an antidote to fear, I ask you to prayerfully ponder these truths: God is love, and God’s love is the most powerful force within creation. Therefore, it is entirely safe to gamble everything you have, including your very self, for love!
