Services
The Assisi Institute offers a variety of services for meditation and prayer.
Thursday Kriya Yoga Service
Thursday, 7:00PM – 8:30PM
We welcome you to join us in person or online. To attend online, please tune in to The Assisi Institute Facebook page. Our Kriya service features prayer which includes the saints and sages of all traditions, readings from Paramahansa Yogananda and the Bible, a time of guided and silent meditation, and an inspiring talk. Whether you are new to meditation or a seasoned practitioner, our Thursday services are enjoyable and accessible to all. Newcomers are most welcome!
Friday Lakshmi and Divine Mercy
Friday, 12:00PM – 1:00PM
Fridays at noon we engage in three powerful devotional traditions, two from the East and one from the West. The Lakshmi is the chanting of the Lakshmi mantra 108 times in prayer to Lakshmi, the Hindu goddess of prosperity and purity. Then, a reverent fire ceremony reminds us to keep God in all of our senses. Finally, we listen prayerfully to a beautiful, melodic recording of the Divine Mercy Chaplet which leads us into prayer with Jesus for ourselves and the world.
Kriya Olean – 1st & 3rd Wednesday
Wednesday, 7:00PM
A vision from Isha Das and Rich Reilly, director of the Olean Meditation Center, made it possible for Olean to host the first satellite group of The Assisi Institute. In Olean, we wish to continue the practices, study, and peace of The Assisi Institute. Each service begins with a silent or guided meditation, followed by a presentation of concepts inspired by Kriya Yoga and mystical Christianity. All are warmly welcome! This service is still meeting virtually. For the Zoom link, email Jackie Thomas-Eustis at jteustis@gmail.com or call her at 585-766-5951.

The Holy Place
The Holy Place was built to replicate the Chapel of San Damiano in Assisi, Italy. At San Damiano, St. Francis heard the voice of Jesus saying the words that gave him his life’s mission: “Francis, rebuild my church, for it is falling into ruin.” In true Franciscan spirit, the Holy Place grew out of an old garden shed. The generous gift of several patrons of The Assisi Institute who wished to offer a quiet refuge from a busy world made this renovation possible.
All are welcome to use The Holy Place for prayer and meditation. Its small size and unique character make it a meaningful setting for sacred services.
Email Purnima at purnima@assisi-institute.org to discuss use of The Holy Place.
