As with life, class begins with the breath, from there we will lay a good foundation on our mats for a thoughtfully sequenced set of classic yoga poses in the Iyengar tradition. Places of stability and flexibility will be examined and feed the final sequence of class and always end with time to feel the residue of practice in savasana. Whether you are totally new to yoga, a relatively unbendy human, or an experienced practitioner, this class will have you tune into your body and thread the connections between the work we do on the mat to feed our work off the mat.

As the winter season unfolds and the hustle of the holidays approaches, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed. The Winter Roots Series invites you to slow down and reconnect with your inner self through a nurturing practice that emphasizes grounding, presence, and gentle movement. In this series, you’ll explore a variety of gentle yoga practices designed to help you find stability and calm amidst the seasonal chaos. Each class will integrate reiki energy work and herbal support, offering a holistic approach to grounding your body and spirit.

Come learn basic Kundalini yoga, Pranayama and Meditation concepts followed by a practice fusing Kundalini pranayama, meditation with Vinyasa flow. This class includes handouts for note-taking and journaling your experiences of the practices learned. Videos of the class practice sessions and concepts will be shared via YouTube links after each class so you can incorporate them into your home practice experience. This class is open to all.

Yin Yoga consists of passive long-held (1-5 min) floor postures, which focus mainly on the spine, hips, and pelvis. Yin specifically targets the connective tissue where we hold the bulk of our emotional and physical trauma. As we age, our connective tissue tends to dry out and become brittle. Regular Yin practice helps to bring moisture back into these tissues, therefore giving you greater comfort and mobility, slows the aging process, and can begin to reverse the effects of arthritis, lessening joint issues and pain, enhancing mental clarity and memory, and creating a sense of overall well-being.

This slow vinyasa flow is designed to open the heart and quiet the mind. Throughout this balanced practice, we will move through a series of postures that open the upper body and strengthen the core.
We will enhance our flexibility, balance, and inner strength, and turn our senses inward, deepening our connection with Self, and finding a path to stillness that allows us to hear the whispers of our hearts.
Modifications to cater to most levels of flexibility and experience will be provided.
